About the Author

Jane lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with her husband, two children, and one poorly behaved but well-intentioned Irish Terrier. She is a Bioethicist and Medical Humanities professor at Indiana University. She holds a BA in English Literature, with a concentration in creative writing, an MA in Philosophy with a concentration in bioethics, a JD, and she has completed a Fellowship in Clinical Ethics. She publishes regularly in the academic literature and has presented at international and national conferences on the use of literature to develop narrative competence and ethical sensitivity. She has published two novels, Load Bearing (2024) and Fan Base (2025). She has a biography of the first English-Language translators of the Ebers Papyrus currently under contract, forthcoming in late 2026.
